Nathaniel Cervantes, DNP, APRN
Doctor of Nursing Practice

Nathaniel Cervantes, DNP, APRN began his career in health care with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Brownsville.  He quickly moved into advanced practice by training as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he obtained his Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2015.  He took his medical training to even greater heights obtaining a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2017.  Over the years he has accumulated clinical experience in many medical environments including primary care clinics, wellness centers, and hospital settings.  He is fluent in English and Spanish. He joined the team at Personal Med Clinic as a primary care practitioner with the goal to provide an excellent experience for all patients he cares for.


Joanne Hilliard, RN, FNP

Joanne Hilliard, RN, FNP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner - Certified


Joanne Hilliard, RN, FNP-C obtained her BSN in 1998, along with a BA in Psychology from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri.  While in attendance, Joanne was actively involved in the School of Health Professions, serving on the Dean Student Advisory Council and served as President of both the Student Nurses Association and Omicron Delta Kappa.  She has enjoyed learning and growing in her profession over the past 15 years, providing high quality care to patients in both acute and community settings.  Joanne obtained her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from UTHSCSA, graduating with high honors.  She is Board Certified and an active member of AANP/SANAP/TNP.  Joanne is married with three children, two grandchildren, two dogs and a cat.  In her free time, she enjoys  BBQ's with friends and family, day trips to explore and many outdoor activities.  She enjoys meeting your health care needs and supporting the mission, vision and values of Personal Med Clinic.

Hector Edwin Tamayo, MD
Internal Medicine - Board Certified 

Dr. Tamayo received a childhood bilingual education through American schools in South America and is fluent in English and Spanish. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1998. He specialized as a doctor for adults and was honored to serve as Chief Resident of the training program and then as a teaching doctor for many years at Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital, the University Hospital, and the University of Texas Health Science Center. He later received media attention for a contribution based housecall practice through which he served the San Antonio community for several years.  He has also served overseas on medical missions and locally in hurricane evacuation shelters and other community projects.  Dr. Tamayo is medical director of Personal Med Clinic where he supports our team of primary care providers to deliver enjoyable and meaningful care for our patients.

Gladys Gonzalez, NCMA

Medical Assistant


Gladys is the moral backbone of Personal Med Clinic.  She has been an instrumental part of our growth since our early days and has helped to shape what we are today.  She came to Personal Med Clinic with extensive experience as a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant.  At our office she found personal reward in providing meaningful care to those we serve.  She supports our providers in a tireless manner because she believes in our service and enjoys what she is able to give at this office.  Our patients regard her as one of the main reasons they continue committed to Personal Med Clinic.


Erika Rehak

Medical Assistant


Erika brought her exuberant smile to Personal Med Clinic in the summer of 2018.  Her training as a medical assistant at Sanford Brown College led to ample experience in subspecialty clinics where she honed her administrative and clinical skills.  Most importantly, Erika serves with a big heart which she brings to the care of her family and to the care of our patients.
